What is a software stack

A Software Stack or Solution Stack in its simplest form is the grouping of software it takes to preform a task. So an Operating system and a Word Processor and a Printer driver would be needed for you to print a simple letter. Some examples would be LAMP for a website. This is a simple platform but it does not really define the full solution or all the software involved. Lets take a simple business and try to define the software stack. Staring out the window looking for a business, and a hotel looks like a good place to start. Have history with hotels, this is easy.
